In 1947, little was known about cerebral palsy and there was no place parents could turn for help for their children with neurological impairments. In Miami, several families joined together to establish a referral service and clinic, where their children could be evaluated and treated by physicians and therapists. Please see Our Programs to get additional information on how we have grown and changed since 1947 as we grew and expanded in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
In July 2016 we decided it was time to change our name to United Community Options of South Florida to better reflect who we support and serve and the wide array of supports, services and programs offered. We began the transition process in the summer of 2016 and our new name became official on April 1, 2017.
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary in 2017, United Community Options of South Florida, formerly United Cerebral Palsy, is one of the largest health care organizations in South Florida, serving more than 1,600 children and adults each day at over 60 locations from Dade to Palm Beach Counties.
