Special Medical Home Care Residential Services
UCO offers this unique residential service in a group home located in North Miami known as Golden Glades. It is an innovative and quality program for children and adults who have an intellectual and or developmental disability and are also medically fragile.
In 1984 we opened this unique group home for infants and children that were medically fragile and developmentally disabled that became affectionately known as the” Baby House” but was renamed Golden Glades many years ago because we began to serve older children. Since 2012 our home has become a haven for young adults on ventilators, oxygen, tracheotomies, and other treatments that preserve life.
Our mission has always been to promote the dignity and self-worth of the individuals that live at Golden Glades. Our staff strives to give each person an excellent quality of life. We are motivated to act as the voice for everyone who lives at Golden Glades.
Education is key and not only are we educating our individuals and staff, but our home has been used as a learning site for many nursing schools to learn to care for children and adults who are medically fragile and developmentally disabled.
Golden Glades Group Home is professionally staffed with Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational and Physical Therapists as well as a Nutritionist and highly trained personal care assistants. We have had the same physician for the past 30 years, and as a pulmonologist he is very accessible.
We are proud and honored to be part of United Community Options (formally known as United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida) whose goal is to create the future…one person at a time!
